Very Tropical Berry Smoothie
What better way to get a dose of fresh polyphenols than to have it as a delicious smoothie? Naturally sweetened with a ripe banana, with hints of coconuts, and packed with polyphenol-rich blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries, this very tropical berry smoothie is a delicious way to transport yourself to your dream beach vacation.
Make sure you use organic berries and fruits, since berries often have some of the highest pesticide concentrations, and that has terrible consequences to our gut and our health.
You can omit the ice if you freeze the fruits beforehand. However, beware that freezing can denature phenolic compounds.
1 ripe organic banana
¼ cup organic strawberries
¼ cup organic blueberries
¼ cup organic raspberries
1 cup organic coconut milk
1 cup ice
- Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until a smooth slush.
- Pour into a cup (Tip: place the cup in the fridge while you’re making the smoothie so the smoothie doesn’t warm as fast.) Garnish with leftover berries and banana slices.
